Progress: Milk and Cookies

So I was able to make some good progress on my Milk & Cookie project, so of course I have many photos to show you!

I've gotten to the stage of getting all the painting done, as you can see.

The milk carton has turned out a lot better than expected!

Which is fantastic, since I wasn't completely happy with how I made it.

I mean really, the straw should come out of an opened spout, or the opened flaps of a milk carton. I had to settle on having a hole, since having an open spout was just too structurally weak for me to do.

The way I've painted the carton, is different from the milk cartons we get in real life, since I wanted my own design. So I have blue stripes, and a cow print on the bottom of the carton. Later, once its glazed, I'll write 'milk' on the top above the eyes of the eyes on the carton with a permanent pen. That way, the writing would be neater, and the glaze won't make the ink run.

The oreo cookie has turned out quite nicely too, and the eyes are ok. The white 'icing' was made out of fuwa fuwa paper air dry clay, so at the moment, it's drying to set.

Oh, and of course, the eyes and the blush marks are super-glued on. ^_^

I'll have to get the board/stand for them tomorrow (or the earliest time possible), so that I can decorate the board, and figure out how to stick these on. I kind of need to stick them on first before glazing, just so I can glaze the board in the process. but that's it for the craft stuff, now onto the food pictures! Yes, I went out to eat again, and since I always have the iPad, I can't resist taking photos!

Anyway, a friend and I went to Northbridge, and since the place we wanted to have lunch at wasn't open yet, we went to CNR cafe to get chai lattes and some cake.

We ordered a blueberry ricotta cheesecake (left) and a custard tart (right) to share - hence why they're in pieces XD

The cheesecake was light, and it wasn't overly sweet, and was cut through nicely by the tart blueberries.

The custard tart was nice, but it was quite mildly flavoured. And it seemed store bought rather than made, which is a pity.

I adore the chai lattes though! It was very well made, tasted good, and had a mellow honey taste to it. And the cinnamon on top gives it the spice it needed. It came out after we got the cakes though, so it would have been nice to have this, before the cakes, so that we could eat it together. Ah, well. The service was pretty good though, and I would definitely come back for another chai latte.

Next stop, lunch at Utopia! My friend had never been, and was interested in having 'vegetarian where you actually don't miss meat' as I put it.

She got a chrysanthemum tea, and I got a peach bubble tea to start off with. The the food came quickly after:

Crispy chicken, with sweet and sour sauce! I love this dish, it has that crunch, and then a savoury chewiness that makes it very addictive! And the sauce is perfect for it!

We also had the Combination BBQ dish, so there was 'frankfurts', 'spam' or 'ham', more crispy chicken, and some sort of roll that I had no idea it was suppose to be. All really delicious, and the frankfurts are really close to what frankfurts are - but better since it's vegetarian. Lol.

We also ordered the Formosa Udon dish (dry), but unfortunately we kind of demolished it before I was able to take a picture XD. Really, we kind of ordered too much, but it was all delicious and came out really fast.

Ah, recently, not only do they sell food and bubbletea, but a range of pastries too. Some pretty cakes in the display ^_^ Very cute - though we had no room to have any cake (besides the fact that we had some before lunch XD ).

And some more cakes - I love how each slice of cake is packaged so neatly!

Oh, see the little jars on the bottom right? It has pudding in them! Just, so cute! I was tempted to buy it, just to have the pudding jar.

They had other pastries to select on shelves, these are sweet ones.

They also had savoury pastries, like ones with pork floss and mayo. Aa-and that's about it from me! I know I have been talking about food for a while, but I wanted to share some of my favourite places to dine out. Although the photography is pretty bad XD Anyway, hopefully next time I post, I will have almost/finished my Milk & Cookie project! At least, I hope so, since I may have to sidetrack and concentrate on an assignment that is due next week - gah.

Thank you! I'm glad it turned out well, since to me, it was just hard to make, and a bit clumsy. Perhaps it will be easier to make as a charm?

About the Cubed Watermelon

Welcome to an average but slightly off-kilter girl, who is studying to become a teacher by day, but by night pursues a craft journey through many various things that involve clay, sharp needles and all sorts of things that you may find strange, or weird. There are many (mostly) pretty pictures to look at, and maybe some things to laugh at when real life intrudes. But above all, all things that has been deemed nice, cute and just plain quirky will be discussed at length here, and maybe a few tutorials thrown in for good measure!
